Review: Royal Envoy for iOS - Video Game Cowboys

Time management games have slowly but surely crept their way into the annals of Video Game Cowboys reviews and gaming coverage. ?For instance look at Pioneer Lands (for a unique view on how the West was won) or Fate of the Pharaoh (for a slightly skewed take on ancient Egyptian development) and you will see that Royal Envoy (for anyone wanting to play a kingdom architect) fits right in.

All of these games share common traits, much like action platformers or any other genre, there is going to be overlap in play mechanics and layout of the activities (gotta keep fans comfortably challenged, not irritated by going outside of the box too far). ?Much like other titles in this genre, players are presented with a very rigid, one screen, experience that does offer quite a bit of fun and uniqueness within those confines. ? Screens have a limited number of places to put buildings and some offer resources that have to be collected, characters in the game that need to be bribed and so on.

Much like other titles in this genre, there is a time limit (finish before and you get the highest ranking, anything after that is still passing but no medal). ?You place houses, stores, construction type buildings and even a bank or two here and there (pays 50% of taxes paid by peasants and is VITAL for some levels even when you don?t have space for one). ?Gameplay wise, if you are a fan of these style games, you have already played this one, RE is just different graphics.?

Where Royal Envoy sets itself apart from PL or FotP is in the storyline. ?This is a department that Playrix titles excel at- they know how to give gamers a good story, a reason to do what is needed in the game. ?Immersion is not going to happen nor is having to wait 5+ hours for stuff to finish (everything takes a few seconds) unlike those ?Story? games that seem to be all the rage on Facebook and iOS right now. ?Players can finish most levels within 5 minutes (unless you are going for some of the more challenging, optional, items/quests).
